Human Factors (HF) training is a mandatory course that every engineer in the aviation industry must pass and retake every two years under EASA training guidelines. HF training is designed to help eliminate human error and improve understanding of the implications of such when working to maintain aircraft.
Bostonair’s Human Factors training course covers topics such as organizational safety culture, procedures, safety policy, human limitations and methods of communication in the aviation workplace. This is to help students gain a better understanding of why ensuring safety procedures are followed and maintaining compliance is of the upmost importance when working in the aviation industry.
Commonly referred to as the ‘dirty dozen’, there are twelve common preconditions that could lead to an accident in the aviation workplace that are discussed in Human Factors training:
- Lack of communication
- Lack of resources
- Lack of teamwork
- Lack of awareness
- Lack of knowledge
- Lack of assertiveness
Our Human Factors training aims to teach engineers how to avoid these factors by covering a number of topics:
- Identify the limits of human performance.
- Explain the social, psychological, and physical conditions that affect human performance.
- How types of work tasks and communications affect human performance in the workplace.
- How human error and hazards in the workplace lead to accidents and how these can be avoided.
- What employers and employees can do to work together to improve safety and responsibility.
